Loading ImageYoga is a well known tool for relaxation and overall personal wellbeing, but Bikram yoga also promises to help you with rapid weight loss.

Bikram yoga, named after its founder Bikram Choudhary, is known as hot yoga, because it’s so popular, or because of how you look after enough sessions, but because it takes place in a room of up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit! During a class, you’ll fuse traditional with modern yoga techniques and expect to perform 26 different positions in this hot room. If you’re picturing traditional, slow moving stretches whilst listening to wind chimes, think again. Bikram yoga is an aerobic form of exercise and requires you to move fast.

You may be asking yourself; what’s the point? The fast movement increases your heart rate, burning calories and fat, which is particularly effective in the heat of the room. Sources claim you can expect to burn 700 calories in a 90 minute session. As the heat encourages a lot of sweat, you’ll also lose a lot of water weight, but as a result make sure you drink plenty of fluids to maintain your wellness. Bikram also promises to improve muscle flexibility, detoxify the body, and enhance your circulatory system, which improves your metabolism.

For the full benefits of Bikram yoga, it is recommended that you take up to 10 classes per month for rapid weight loss and a better physique. It may be an intense sounding 90 minutes, but with all its listed benefits and rising popularity, there must be something to it.
