In UMP Modifieds, David McWilliams also picked up his first win at Whitewater this season in yet another tight one. Jimmie Haager (2nd), Billy Haager (3rd), Matt Hamilton (4th) and Bub Balsley (5th) followed.
John Mayer took his fifth feature win in an action-packed hornet race after coming up from last place. Logan Kirkman, Felisha Deweese, Carl Oakes and Josh Baldwin were next in line.Travis Howe won Super Stocks in his first time in Liberty. Gary Rahe, Jr. was a close second. Robert Scarrette, Eric Sandlin and Jeremy Roark were third through fifth, respectively.
A special show is set for Friday, featuring NILMS Crate Late Model Series. At least 15 LM’s are expected.
Free hoops shooting clinic for girls
The Connersville Girls Basketball teams are hosting a one-day shooting clinic at Spartan Bowl.
The clinic is free to girls in grades K-6, based on grades being entered into in the fall.
Dates and times for the clinics are as follows:
- Grades 4-6 – Today from 11 a.m. to noon.
The Lady Spartan basketball program will have its camp this Fall prior to the start of the Regenstrief Boys and Girls Club elementary league.
Adult soccer league
The Connersville Parks and Recreation office has announced that it is forming an adult men’s 6-on-6 soccer league.
Those playing in the league must be graduated from high school.
The season will run from late June to mid-August, and games will be played on Sunday and Thursday nights at 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Cost per player in the league is $20 and each team will pay the referee $10 at the start of each game.
Anyone wishing to register may do so at the Connersville Parks and Rec office inside the Miller Community Center in Roberts Park.
Deadline to register is Wednesday.

Optimist 5K run coming
The 2014 Optimist 5K run will be held at Roberts Park on Saturday.
Runners may register for the race on the day of the event from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Cost will be $20.
The race start time is set for 8:30 a.m.
