Doing exercise on a regular basis can do wonders for your wellness, but did you know it can also help improve your sexual wellbeing?

For many years, doctors and scientists have been very vocal about the health benefits of exercise. It can help you to lose weight, or just help you to maintain a healthy weight range. It can help to fight against serious health conditions such as high blood pressure, and it can also reduce your risk of developing other serious health conditions such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. If you exercise regularly, you will also benefit from improved energy and are likely to get a better night’s sleep. On top of all this, exercise is great for your mental health; it can help to increase your self-esteem, improve your mood and can help you to fight against depression.

If none of those are good enough reasons to motivate you to move off the couch then think about this: taking regular exercise can help to boost things in the bedroom. Of course, being fitter and healthier overall will go a long way to improving things in the bedroom, but certain types of exercise can also be great to help improve your flexibility, strength and stamina in bed. So, if you want to impress your partner next time you hit the sack, why not try some sex-specific exercises?

One such sex-specific exercise is the kegel exercise. You’ve probably already heard of these, but it’s important to bear in mind that they are not just for women. They are designed to improve the strength of the pubococcygeus muscle, which works as a sort of hammock to support the organs in the pelvis, including the bladder, rectum and reproductive organs.

Diseases such as cancer are thought to be best treated using both the body and the mind, in order to boost the immune system in every way. Our immune systems do far more than simply fend off the common cold. Social support, for example, can significantly improve a person’s condition and extend the life of a cancer patient. In studies looking at victims of cancer, researchers found that women who attended support groups lived twice as long as those who didn’t, on average. A study in Los Angeles at the University of California found that patients who had survived cancer for a minimum of five years and attended group therapy lived three times as long as those who didn’t attend any therapy sessions. It seems that relying on others to boost our mood when we’re ill could help us fight conditions and diseases far more effectively. When people are grieving, their T-cells and the natural killer cells in the body, both of which are important for defending the immune system, function far less effectively. By being supported and comforted by friends and family members, this aspect of the immune system may well be bolstered. However, people who are depressed and anxious may suffer the opposite effect.

In a study involving 4825 healthy individuals, 146 of them were depressed. In those who had been depressed for a minimum of six years, the chances of developing cancer were far higher. This is thought to be because of the fact that this condition kills of the natural ‘killer’ cells, so the body doesn’t fight off diseases. This isn’t to say that depression can cause cancer, but it does signify that depression and related issues such as anxiety can lower one’s immunity to the disease. This makes it not only a risk for cancer, but also other diseases. There are however other theories that suggest that cancer may cause depression, with a study discovering that in 43 liver tumour patients there was a direct link between clinical depression and an immune modulator. The chemical which is released when our immune system fights cancer is the same substance that may trigger depression biologically. Although this may seem like bad news, it is actually the opposite. It provides researchers with new tools for treating cancer – it also highlights the link between the mind and other diseases. Taking the time to meditate and de-stress is important in order to strengthen the immune system, so that we can better fight off illnesses.

Leading a stress-free lifestyle as best you can is one of the best ways to fight off anxiety and depression. This means doing plenty of exercise, which can boost your mood and release endorphins to keep you happy, as well as eating a balanced diet that’s rich in brain-healthy foods. Oily fish, plenty of fruit and vegetables, and omega-rich nuts and seeds will ensure that you’re happy through your food. Take time to meditate and relax at least a few times a week, so that you don’t overload your mind with worries and stress – this can be anything from some alone time each week to spending time with friends and loved ones. Lowering your stress levels and ensuring you lead a healthy lifestyle will not only help to reduce the risk of depression but it will also stave off other health concerns such as heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. If you think you’re at risk of developing depression, or think you’re displaying signs of cancer, speak to your GP as soon as possible for advice on the situation.

The holidays are a stressful time for family wellness and wellbeing, and nearly all couples have fights during the holidays. What you need to do is just take a step back and think about the bigger picture, as it’s much better in the long run if you can keep your stress levels low.

If you look around you, you’ll see holiday stress and relationship dramas everywhere you look – not just with your friends and family but also at work and in the news. Unfortunately, being bombarded with these kinds of negative messages can make you feel nervous and anxious about your own relationship. If you start thinking negatively, it’s far too easy to let all the little things turn into major fights.

Instead, you need to totally transform your mindset. Start thinking that the holidays are going to be great, and you are much likely to find that this comes true. Stay connected with your partner, and you are more likely to avoid those holiday blowups that everyone is so susceptible to.

One reason why many people fight during the holidays is that it is a time when you are obligated to spend time with family members. You may find that one half of the partnership is looking forward to seeing a long-lost family member whilst the other person in the relationship is resentful about having to spend the holidays with them.

A great way to avoid this is to make sure that you don’t plan to spend 24 hours a day with your family. Of course you want to spend time with them, but you don’t need to spend all the time possible with them, especially if you want to keep a happy, healthy balance in your marriage. When making plans for the holidays, make sure that you build in time to escape, just you and your partner, for a bit of one-on-one time together. You can go for a coffee and just have a chance to chat, clear the air and keep on track with your relationship.

As we grow older, our skin begins to show signs of damage caused by the sun and the aging process. This damage often appears as wrinkles in the face and cleavage of women. While there are many products and procedures on the market for the face area, rarely is there ever any mention of wrinkle treatment for the chest area. Listed here are five surprising ways to help you fight cleavage wrinkles.

1. Try a Chemical Peel

A chemical peel removes the outer layers of the skin to give it a more consistent and smooth texture. Often the ingredients used in the chemical peel can also aid in preventing future damage of the skin as well.

2. Microdermabrasion

Similar to a chemical peel, microdermabrasion is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as superficial skin discoloration, fine lines and uneven rough texture. During treatment, a hand piece is used along with sodium bicarbonate, silicone derived particles, aluminum oxide crystals, or a diamond-tip to abrade the skin. Microdermabrasion treatments are recommended twice a week for multiple weeks in order to obtain maximum results.

3. Laser Treatment

This form of treatment is performed using an ablative laser that applies heat to the top layer of skin. The heat is intensified until the skin containing the wrinkles is completely removed. Although visible improvement can be seen in as little as one to two treatments, for optimal results, multiple treatments are encouraged. This is especially true for patients who suffer from skin damage or severe wrinkles.

4. Breast Augmentation and Reconstruction Surgery

Breast augmentation and reconstruction surgery is often done to change the shape, increase the size, or alter the texture of a woman’s breasts. Saline or silicone gel implants are surgically inserted into the normal healthy breasts to improve the symmetry and increase fullness. Breast reconstruction can also help to restore the breasts to a close to normal appearance, size and shape after a mastectomy has been performed. If one breast is reconstructed, sometimes augmentation surgery may be suggested afterward for the other breast to improve size, position, and symmetry of both breasts. Both of these procedures can decrease the visibility of cleavage wrinkles.

5. Intense Pulsed Light

Intense pulsed light treatment is a form of laser treatment. However, instead of heating the top layer of skin, the second layer of skin is heated. This treatment triggers the body to heal the injured area and thus produce new skin cell and collagen growth. Intense pulsed light treatment may require several visits before maximum benefits are achieved.

If you are interested in any of these treatments that aid in reducing and preventing cleavage wrinkles, consider contacting a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon for more information. He or she can help you to decide if the selected procedure is right for you.

Although arguing with your partner doesn’t seem like a short-cut to sexual health and wellness, the truth is that it lead to one thing which can do wonders for your sexual wellbeing; make-up sex. But why is making up between the sheets so legendary for being spicy? According to psychologist Seth Meyers, PsyD, couples ‘hunger to switch gears from the negative emotions that come with fighting to the opposite end of the spectrum.’ This basically means that you want to feel that warm high you experience when you make up. Some couples even go so far as to stir up an argument so that they can reap the sexy rewards, but isn’t there a better way? Here’s how to experience the ecstasy of make-up sex without the shake-up beforehand:

1. Get Your Blood Pumping: If you want to get your adrenaline going without getting your partner going out the door, try some sort of daredevil activity with your partner. Pepper Schwartz, PhD, a professor of sociology at the University of Washington and co-author of The Getaway Guide to the Great Sex Weekend, advises, ‘Do something exciting together, and the sex you have afterward will be life affirming.’ If skydiving or bungee jumping seems a little too life-threatening in the name of a good bang, you and your partner can also get your blood pumping by taking a rollercoaster ride, or even going on run together. Sure, you’ll get all hot and sweaty, but only in the best way.

2. Ditch Each Other: A post-fight romp is, in many ways, a reunion; you come back together and connect after being emotionally opposed to one another. However, instead of arguing, planning some physical time apart can have you longing for each other again. Hollie S, 25, has found this trick to work time and time again: ‘I look forward to solo trips because I get to do something I really enjoy, plus my husband and I really get to miss each other, which leads to hotter sex when we get our hands on each other again.’ Author of In the Name of Love Aaron Ben-Ze’ev, PhD, agrees, noting, ‘In a flourishing relationship, the importance of personal space cannot be exaggerated.’ Plus, you get a weekend away with your friends – bonus.

3. Get Some Harmless Competition Going: When you’re all dress up and manage to turn a few strangers’ heads, how hot do you feel? Ari B, 34, knows that feeling, and even suggests that you tap into that emotion to get things going with your partner. Go ‘out and [get] attention from someone else,’ Ari recommends. ‘Showing him you’re in demand with others is a foolproof way to instigate some jealousy and motivate him to win you over again.’ Ari recalls a time when a woman flirted with her at a party, and it really got her husband going. ‘She was actually straight,’ Ari details. ‘She just wanted to have fun and complimented my curves. He thought it was hot that a woman was attracted to me, and it reminded him that he faces competition from all genders, which made the sex that night super hot.’

4. Play Fight: When all else fails, get your imaginary boxing gloves out. Stage a make-believe tiff about something trivial that doesn’t really matter to either of you, like who’s the better twerker, says Myriad M, 30. ‘Pick sides, and fight to win!’ she enthuses. Whether you debate yourselves into a lather, or actually tackle him onto the bed, there’s nothing like a battle to to arouse some playful feelings of competition … and, ahem, some other types of feelings too.

When we think about cancer and the ways to treat it, perhaps our first thought centres around chemotherapy and what it can do to help you fight off the disease. But in trying to resist cancer there are a number of different treatments that can be used. The problem that many people have is that they are highly damaging to you – in trying to battle the cancer inside of us we have to do serious damage to our bodies. This is generally because the medications and therapies used to fight cancer can’t tell the difference between the fast-growing cancer cells and other fast-growing cells of the body such as skin and hair cells. This is why so many cancer patients lose their hair or become even more ill during treatment.

So given that cancer treatments can be so bad for us, are there some other methods that we can use to help to fight off this terrible affliction that won’t be quite so harmful to us? The problem is that many therapies that claim to be able to help you fight cancer might seem like a good idea and sound reasonable from their marketing approaches, but the fact is that if they are not offered by doctors or hospitals, that means they have not stood up to science testing. In other words, there is no proof that they actually work.

There are a number of so-called holistic treatments that many people like to use in their attempts to get rid of their cancer. Many of these treatments do not claim to be able to beat cancer or even fight it by themselves, but they can supposedly help your body to deal with other treatments and recover more quickly. One of the most commonly used and popular of these is naturopathy. Clearly the human body has its own natural defences so it does make sense that if we can improve our own natural defences it will make us better equipped to deal with cancer.

In this sense, naturopathy could be very useful and may show us a way to better deal with the health problems that we have. Diet is an absolutely essential part of naturopathy. And the most critical aspect of the diet is cutting out any bad habits that you may have. This can include the excessive consumption of sweets or fizzy drinks. Indeed anything that is putting a large amount of fat or sugar into your body is naturally going to be bad for you and should be removed from your diet to give your body the best chance of fighting off this very serious disease.

Of course, the other aspect of cancer treatment that we might not immediately think about is prevention. Of course this is no good for people who already suffer from cancer, but for those people for whom cancer could always creep up on, it’s worth cutting out any of the potential risks to your health. Just ask anyone who is currently suffering from cancer and they will be able to tell you exactly why you shouldn’t take the risk.

There are many things that can put you at a greater risk of developing cancer and sometimes it can be hard to keep track of exactly what you should be doing and what you should be avoiding. Nevertheless there are some clear things that have been shown to put you at a much higher risk of cancer. These include smoking, excessive consumption of alcohol and a putting any other toxins into your body such as drugs. Avoid these and you’ll be in a much better position.

With growing concerns over vaccines triggering autism in young toddlers, the last thing that parents want to hear is about another vaccine; however in light of ground-breaking research, a new vaccine has emerged to fight against gut bacteria which, it is said, can also fight against autism symptoms.

The gut bug known as Clostridium Boltae is said to caught disorders in the gut, which are also said to be found commonly in autistic children, with over 90% of children suffering from chronic, severe gastrointestinal symptoms and another 75% suffering from diarrhoea.

Whilst it is unclear as to why autistic children are susceptible to the bacteria, the vaccine is an attempt to reverse the effects. With autism cases rising sixfold within the past two decades, the rising concerns and sheer mystery as to why remains unclear. Whilst some researchers claim that it is the environment, others believe that the gut is the primary cause – even though they are not sure why.

The vaccine is the first of its kind that is designed to fight this type of gut bacteria. There are some suspicions that the bacteria inject toxins or metabolites into its host, which may then control or trigger the symptoms and causes of autism – in particular, regressive autism.

The downside to this vaccine is that it may take more than ten years to go through pre-clinical and human trials – longer still will be the process of making the drug marketable. It is uncertain as to whether this two-decade increase will continue to grow within the next decade.

For researchers however, this is the first – and significant – step into resolving the autistic mystery. With the vaccine able to introduce antibodies quickly for the body’s immune system to detect and identify, the toddler can be protected from the risks of intestinal infections and also, perhaps more importantly, the lifelong risk of autism. For them, it is better late than never at all.
