Kangana Ranaut, who has emerged as the Queen of women-centric movies, is now set to impress the audience with her modern-day free-spirited role in Katti Batti. Having unveiled the film’s trailer, the actress managed to keep the mystery alive about its narrative and her character.

The trailer of the movie, which also stars Imran Khan, was unveiled here on Sunday.

Talking about the film, Kangana said, “It is a love story, which might not end up like a love story! The way this film unfolds, it is non-linear, it is really hard to give you an idea of what’s it’s actually about, especially my character in the film.”

Katti Batti features Imran as a young architect, Madhav Kabra, and Kangana as the free-spirited Payal.

Dropping more hints about the film, Kangana said, “It’s not about pregnancy. I don’t play a double role, I don’t play a Punjabi girl, I don’t play an NRI, nor do I get bored in the film, so no such things. There is no genre to the movie. The beauty of the film is that it is very intriguing. Revealing too much right now will take away fun and we really don’t want to take that away.”

Directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur under UTV Motion Pictures, the film will hit theatres on September 18.

In the poster, right from his frown to the stubble and the silver in his ears, Salman is the same as he appeared in the ‘first look’ tweeted by the film’s official handle on Twitter in May. The little girl from the first trailer, who Salman vows to help her find her way home to Pakistan, also features with the actor with a scene from a battlefield as the backdrop. The film’s trailer and first song Selfie Le Le Re, had shown Salman as a devotee of Lord Hanuman, the poster also highlights the significance of the deity, whose silhouette is shown along with his fabled mace.

Several hashtags have been trending on the microblogging site since the last few days heralding the arrival of the new trailer.

Directed by Kabir Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which also co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will hit the screens on Eid this July, also the month when the Bombay High Court will begin hearing Salman’s appeal against his conviction in the 2002-hit-and-run case in which he was handed a five-year jail term by a Sessions Court in Mumbai.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns actor Deepak Dobriyal credited superstar Salman Khan and his co-star R Madhavan for carving a path for character actors in the Hindi film industry.

“There are two people – Madhavan and Salman Khan – who give space to their co-stars. It is because of them that the trend of increasing the length of role of actors, who are doing well in their films, is finding inroads in Bollywood. They always emphasise on giving more scenes to good actors,” Deepak told IANS.

The 39-year-old came into spotlight with the Aanand L Rai-directed film, with his witty one-liners. Deepak’s character named Pappi Singh, who played role of Madhavan’s close friend, got appreciation from all quarters turning it into a fad.

The actor, who has also featured in movies like Omkara and Dabangg 2, said that Madhavan boosted his spirits on the sets of the film, which transpired through the camera.

“I would say Madhavan’s involvement had a big role in how the character of Pappi Singh shaped up in the film. He used to clap and appreciate my performance in front of everyone. That filled me up with energy,” he said.

While Deepak is still coming to terms with the craze around Pappi Singh, he is all charged up with more rib tickling act for his next film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which also stars Salman along with Sonam Kapoor.

The actor informed that his role in the Sooraj Barjatya’s film involves a comic angle, but it’s different from Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

“It’s a funny character and is different from what I did in my previous film,” he said.

Actor Varun Dhawan, who is stepping into Salman Khan’s shoes for Shuddhi, has decided to maintain silence regarding the project.

“I will not say anything about Shuddhi. People have said a lot about it, but as an actor, my job is to act, just talking about is not going to help. So, all that I will do is act and let the audience decide,” Varun said here.

To be directed by Karan Malhotra, Shuddhi also co-stars Alia Bhatt.

Earlier, producer Karan Johar had confirmed Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan would play the lead in the film, and then Salman Khan was taken on board. But, just last month, Karan Johar announced that he had finalised Varun and Alia.

Varun said, “There are lots of new things in this film and there are also lot of rumours going around with this film. But all I will say is don’t listen to any rumours. It’s a completely different film.”

Actor Jimmy Shergill says he is content with his journey in Bollywood and feels he has got his due in the film industry.

“I choose to do the best and believe in working hard. I think I have already got my due in Bollywood as I am still getting to do work. Today also work-wise it is still a learning process for me,” he told PTI.

“As long as you are working that is what matters. I am happy as I am not sitting idle. I believe in doing work in a slow and steady way. It has been close to two decades and I still get to do exciting roles,” he said.

Jimmy has worked with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan and he said that he is lucky to have got a chance to collaborate with them.

“I wanted to do films with these stars as I wanted to experience it. I look at it as an opportunity,” he added. Jimmy said he did expect his latest release Tanu Weds Manu Returns to do well at the box office and is happy that it is his first film to enter the Rs 100-crore club.

The film has reportedly earned Rs 150 crore till now. “It is first time that my film has earned so much money at the box office. I am experiencing it. While we were shooting we did expect that the film will do well. We were confident about our project. But the film has done well beyond our expectations,” Jimmy said.

Jimmy is all praises for his co-star Kangana Ranaut. “Kangana had author backed role in the film. If everyone loved her in Queen and then Tanu Weds Manu Returns i> is a film where she shocked everyone with her performance,” he added.

Jimmy was also not surprised with the appreciation that came his way for his performance in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

At the Cannes Film Festival, the most recent edition of which just ended, the red carpet with its daily parade of impossibly glamorous celebs sometimes eclipses the main attraction (the main attraction being cinema), at least in press coverage. The sideshow all too often becomes the principal event, reducing Cannes, the world’s most prestigious and influential film festival, to the sum of its red carpet fashion parts. This is almost certainly a function of the presence of an entire army of celebrities who arrive yearly in the south of France to represent not a film but a brand and whose only responsibility is to show up and look good. Which might explain why the most watched red carpet in the world is always dense with models.

Make that looking fabulous. On any red carpet, models are a privileged breed – they almost never look anything less than fantastic no matter what they wear, and what they wear is frequently startling. The ensembles they elect to costume themselves in would quite likely consign any wearer lacking a model-bod straight to the depths of fashion hell. A clutch of famous clotheshorses proved this all over again at Cannes this year.

In no particular order, this year’s outfits that only a model could look good in:

Karlie Kloss in a space-agey silver one-sleeved and one-legged Versace jumpsuit that Joan Jetson might pick to wear to a futuristic version of the Met Gala.

Liya Kebede in a Proenza Schouler concoction of scarlet sequins and black mesh studded with white grommets.

Jourdan Dunn in black lace Ralph & Russo, nearly naked underneath but for a skin-coloured bodysuit.

Petra Nemcova in a Zuhair Murad outfit of a completely sheer skirt and a peplum-style jacket with a neckline so plunging it almost reached her navel.

Izabel Goulart, also in Zuhair Murad, with upward-travelling flames of fabric clinging to her curves and flickering over her torso.

Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner, passing off Azzedine Alaia crop tops and skirts as ‘dresses’

Actress Richa Chadha apparently had 15 designers clamouring to dress her at the Cannes Film festival, where her film Masaan received a standing ovation on Tuesday. She picked Sabyasachi to wear to the premiere – a mint and pink sari with a sparkly blouse.

She looked as lovely going as she did coming:

Richa wore a Giles dress to the photocall of Masaan before the screening.

The last time Richa was at Cannes was as part of the cast of Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur which played to a packed house in 2012. “The last time I went to Cannes I had no experience of being in the limelight. Now I am more confident and grown up. I feel fortunate that so many amazing designers have shown interest in dressing me up. I want to showcase the best of the east in the west,” Richa told news agency IANS.

Masaan, directed by first-timer Neeraj Ghaywan, had the audience on its feet for five minutes, reducing Richa to tears. The film is one of two from India being screened in the Un Certain Regard section – the other is the Punjabi language Chauthi Koot.

One of the most controversial personalities of Indian cricket, the life of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin will soon be turned into a film.

“It only took us thirty meetings to convince Azhar that his was a story that needed to be told,” said Ekta Kapoor during the teaser launch of the film in Mumbai.

Emraan Hashmi, who will play the titular role, entered the press conference with his collars turned up, but something tells us that it will take him more than those collars to master the crafty cricketer.

“I have only played gully cricket, but here I am supposed to play one of the best batsmen in Indian cricket. I am glad that Azhar is also helping me train in the game. His leg glance is a nightmare to master but hopefully by the time we start filming I would have got that right,” said Emraan.

Azhar was quite a star with the ladies as well – A reason, perhaps, why ‘shaadi’ is one of the main aspects of the biopic.

“There are actually three aspects to my life. Khuda, shaadi and the match-fixing controversy. It is these three that the film will concentrate on,” said Azhar.

The film’s shooting will commence from next month and it will hit theatres in May 2016. And it isn’t the only biopic on a cricketer releasing that year. Sushant Singh Rajput too will be ready with his biopic on MS Dhoni. “I really didn’t know that there was going to be a biopic on Dhoni. All I know is that there will be a biopic on Azhar,” said Emraan Hashmi.

There’s no doubt that Dhoni is the more celebrated of the two, but it’s always the controversies that make for a better biopic. Azhar, incidentally, was a part of many.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who plays actress Deepika Padukone’s demanding father in Piku lives in his character even between shots, as seen in this behind-the-scenes look at what went down on the sets of director Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming film.

The film’s official Facebook page offers a glimpse at ‘the crazy fun’ behind the cameras with Amitabh Bachchan, a few days after it released a similar video on Deepika’s crazy side and what she did in between takes for the film.

The video shows Mr Bachchan’s entertaining side while taking a breather between shots. But the cantankerous and curmudgeonly hypochondriac with chronic indigestion is seen giving a piece of his mind to one of the crew members, who demands silence on the sets of the film and says “Who is talking? And don’t move” (apparently it was Amitabh Bachchan moving around). Big B responds with “Main baat kara raha hoon yaar. Tu kaan se kanpatti toh nikaal”.

Checkout the crazy fun behind the camera in 60 Days 60 Shots & laugh out loud with Amitabh Bachchan

Posted by Piku on Friday, April 24, 2015

He also speaks to a crew member about being a true artist and a ‘spoilt actor’ who can even exercise the liberty of leaving the sets if he wishes to. In another instance, Big B authoritatively says “Final decision. End of discussion”.

From running around with his pot-belly, dancing and singing, to speaking in Bengali accent with utter perfection, Mr Bachchan makes the whole atmosphere on the sets very lively and entertaining. The actor also breaks dead silence on the sets with the dialogue “Itna sannata kyun hai bhai?”.

Mr Bachchan’s potent presence and hilarious conversations with the crew in the video reveal the 72-year-old actor’s rather crazy side as promised by the makers.

The video also shows Mr Bachchan’s sincerity towards his work, where he is seen saying “Don’t worry. Kaam nai khatam hoga toh raat bhar kaam karega”.

Towards the end of the video, Big B leaves everyone in splits as he goes on to say “We are mad people. We are making a mad film. Please understand this carefully”.

Piku, which revolves around a father-daughter relationship, is shot extensively in Kolkata and Delhi. The film also stars Irrfan Khan and Moushumi Chatterjee.

Piku is set to release on May 8.

Actor Emraan Hashmi, most of whose films have got an A-certificate from the censor board, is relieved that his soon-to-be-released sci-fi thriller Mr X has got a U/A certificate as now he can show the film to his son and family.

“I am more relieved than Vikram (Bhatt, the director) to get the U/A certificate for the film because I don’t have too many films with U/A certificate,” the 36-year-old said on Monday during the promotion of the film.

“But this is the first film that I, without any stress, would show to my son and my family,” he added.

Produced by Vishesh Films and directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film features Emraan as an invisible guy, who seeks revenge for all the wrong done to him.

The actor also has some passionate and bold scenes with his co-star Amyra Dastur. However, he is happy that this film will have additional audiences due to the U/A certificate.

“I am really relieved that this film has certain additional audiences that “Raaz 3D” didn’t have when we released it two years back because of its erotic quotient and blood,” Emraan said.

“I am looking forward to kind of tapping into that potentially new audience,” he added.

Emraan is satisfied with the final outcome of the film and hopes the audience will love it. He says it will be a roller-coaster ride for the audience.

“It is an absolute delight. It’s like a roller-coaster ride with the invisible man, with the action sequences in 3D or even if you don’t see this in 3D,” said the actor, a couple of whose last films didn’t do well at the box office.

Mr X is slated to release on April 17.

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, along with 98 other women from Mumbai, has featured in a short film titled My Choice and voiced equality for women in all spheres of life.

The video, which lasts a little over two minutes, is directed by Homi Adjania, with whom Deepika worked in films like Cocktail and Finding Fanny.

The black-and-white video, produced by Dinesh Vijan, features the 29-year-old actress calling for a change in the “caged” mindset of men about women and asking them to stop judging women for their choices of clothes, profession and life.

“It is my choice to live life the way I want, to wear clothes I like, to decide how I want my body to be, when I want to get married or if I ever want to walk down the aisle, to decide if I want to be straight or a lesbian,” Deepika said in the film.

Other known faces in the film include actor Farhan Akhtar’s wife, celebrity hairstylist Adhuna Akhtar and sister Zoya. Director Homi’s wife, Vogue India’s fashion director Anaita Shroff, is also a part of the film. All the 99 women are dressed in black outfits.

The short film is a part of #VogueEmpower, Vogue’s social initiative on women empowerment, and is penned by Kersi Khambatta, the co-writer of films like Being Cyrus and Finding Fanny.
