While it may sound a little “out-there”, yoga fans swear that tantra yoga can improve your sexual health and relationship wellness. The ancient practise of tantra yoga uses sexual energy to help you reach a higher state of consciousness, leading to hotter sex and a deeper connection to your partner. This sort of practise has worked wonders for actress Diane Keaton’s wellbeing, as the Annie Hall star asserts that tantra yoga has helped her achieve nine-hour orgasms! Therefore, we’ve turned to Charles Muir, director of the Source School of Tantra, founder of sourcetantra.com, and co-author of The Art of Conscious Loving, to find out how you can achieve that oh-oh-ohmmmm feeling.

1. Touch Each Other’s Seven Erogenous Zones: Muir directs, ‘To open you up for a more intimate connection, spend five minutes a day caressing each other’s chakras—powerful energy centres located at the crown of your head, third eye (between your eyebrows), throat, middle of your chest, abdomen, perineum, and base of your spine. Vary between stroking, scratching, squeezing, tapping, and placing a still hand on these areas.’

2. Crack Out the Spoons: ‘According to tantric tradition, spooning helps you and your man feel incredibly in-tune because your chakras are aligned, allowing energy to flow between you,’ Muir explains. ‘Lie quietly in this position for a few minutes before and after sex, and concentrate on synchronizing your breathing.’

3. Hit the Spot: Muir points out, ‘Tantric yogis believe G-spot stimulation activates new neural pathways between your body and brain, making both you and your guy capable of more intense pleasure and almost limitless orgasms. Have your man stroke you there as a regular part of foreplay, first gently playing with your clitoris and vaginal opening, then working his way to your G: a small lump located a couple of inches up on the front wall of your vagina.’

4. Breast is Best: ‘Breast play is integral to tantric yoga because the twins connect to your heart chakra, which opens you up to greater love and pleasure,’ Muir asserts. ‘Heat lotion in the microwave or ask your guy to rub it between his palms until warm. Using a gentle circular motion, have him massage it into the centre of your chest, extending out to your boobs. Then touch your own breasts and have him place his hands over yours so you can show him the strokes you like. Next, switch and do the same thing to his chest and pecs.’

5. Try the Yab-Yum Position: Muir instructs, ‘Have your guy sit cross-legged or with his legs in a diamond shape. Sit on his lap, facing him, wrap your legs around his waist, and touch the soles of your feet together (this keeps energy cycling throughout your body). Put your arms around each other and begin to rock your bodies. He can also lift his thighs to raise your body up and down along his penis.’

6. Get Into the Swing of Things: ‘Now each lean back and place your hands flat on the floor a foot behind you,’ Muir continues. ‘Using your arms for leverage, swing your bodies back and forth. If you’re on the bed, he can even bounce up and down on the mattress—it’ll feel kind of like you’re flying.’

7. Work the Cobra: Muir suggests, ‘In the tantric version of missionary, have him prop himself up on his elbows, like cobra pose in yoga. Instead of thrusting in and out, he should rock his body back and forth or circle his hips around, delivering more pleasure to your g-spot and clitoris.’
