A nurse at the Royal Cornwall Hospital repeatedly sexually assaulted a patient and took sexual photographs of teenage boys, it has been claimed.

David Fryer, who was a nurse at the sexual health centre at Treliske, Truro, also drugged his victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, before sexually assaulting him, it has been alleged.

A sex clinic nurse at RCHT allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted a patient.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has launched a full investigation into Mr Fryer’s actions and put an interim order in place on the grounds of public protection.

Mr Fryer, now working in Derbyshire as supervisor of a health call centre, has denied the allegations.

The NMC report said the allegations referred to “a number of occasions” between December 2011 and April 2012 when Mr Fryer was working as a nurse for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT).

The report stated about the alleged victim: “At his last appointment he states that he was given an injection and alleges this was a drug which caused him either to fall asleep, or not be able to remember what happened.

“He alleges he awoke in your accommodation on the third floor of the clinic where you abused him.”

The complainant has not made a statement to the police, but had spoken with RCHT staff about the allegations, according to the NMC report.

The report stated: “The complainant has also alleged that you have photographs on your laptop of young teenage boys taken at the Trust (sic) clinic when you were working there.”

The report noted Mr Fryer denied the allegations completely and said the complaints were “inconsistent and unbelievable”.

According to the report Mr Fryer told the NMC he had never taken pictures of patients and “sourced photographs of sexual health conditions from medical photography and the internet for teaching purposes only”.

The NMC imposed a conditions of practice order for 18 months, which included a stipulation that Mr Fryer stayed in his current job.
