The Indian box office is still reeling from Furious 7‘s blockbuster earnings of over Rs 80 crores. Bollywood is limping far behind.

Sunny Leone’s Ek Paheli Leela has made a little less than Rs 16 crores in its opening weekend. The movie released last Friday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

#EkPaheliLeela Fri 5.30 cr, Sat 5.20 cr, Sun 5.35 cr. Total: ? 15.85 cr. India biz.

Dharam Sankat Mein, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Paresh Rawal, also released with Leela but has fared even more poorly:

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput’s crime thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is in its second week in cinemas and has scraped together a few crores more than the 15 odd it made in week one:

However, there’s good news from abroad:

This weekend’s biggest casualty has been Broken Horses, the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed Hollywood film. Box Office India describes it as an ‘epic disaster,’ placing its weekend collections at just Rs 60 lakhs.
