If you’re on a diet, and focusing on your nutrition, then you will already know that sugar is the biggest enemy to your wellness and wellbeing that you can possibly imagine.

Unfortunately, most of us are raised to think that sugar is a treat, as it is often used as a reward for young children when they exhibit good behaviour. Nothing could be further from the truth than this, however, as research is increasingly showing that sugar is absolutely toxic and leads to many of the worst diseases, such as heart disease.

Leading doctors now agree that sugar is one of the worst enemies to your health, and should be avoided as much as possible. Chinese medicine has recognised this problem for many years, too, especially in relation to a problem that they call ‘depletion and thirst syndrome’, also known as diabetes.

The pancreas is designed to deal with excess sugar in the body, by producing and releasing insulin. This is the hormone that carries sugar from the bloodstream into the cells of the body and the body tissues, too. When you take in simple sugars and foods containing refined carbohydrates, your body then requires a quick release of the insulin hormone, which then leaves your pancreas depleted. This quick release later leads to low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). Your body starts to crave more sugar to replace the depleted supply, and thus a vicious cycle is formed, which will eventually cause your pancreas to stop being able to function properly, leading to diabetes. If you have diabetes, your sugar stores up and starts to cause problems inside your body.

Whilst sugar consumption on the whole has decreased in recent years, fructose and corn syrup intake has increased, and it is just as harmful. Products such as tomato ketchup, bread, cereal, granola bars, fast foods and salad dressing are absolutely loaded with this harmful sugar.

Pets are an important part of their family, and yet their wellness and wellbeing is often unknowingly put at risk by having harmful plants, foods or other substances around your home. To keep your pet healthy, it is important that you know what is safe for them and what is not.

Chocolate, for example, may be your absolute favourite thing, but did you know that it can be terribly toxic for your dog? There is a component in chocolate called theobromine and it can cause increased heart rate, hyperactivity, arrhythmias, diarrhoea, vomiting and even seizures if chocolate is consumed by dogs. If a dog eats a lot of chocolate it can even lead to sudden death. Keep all chocolate well away from your dog, and if your dog eats chocolate by accident then contact your vet immediately as a precaution.

Antifreeze is also terribly dangerous for pets. In colder weather like we are currently experiencing in the UK, people start to add antifreeze to their car engines. It’s great for protecting cars from extreme temperatures but it can be deadly if a cat or dog laps it up from a puddle in the driveway. Just a few licks of antifreeze (such as a cat might get from cleaning its paws after standing in some) can be enough to cause kidney failure and even death in your cat. If you do spill whilst filling up your car then ensure that you hose down your driveway thoroughly and let it dry again before you let our pet outside.

If you transport your dog around in the car then make sure that you put a seatbelt on them. Larger dogs especially should be harnessed in the back seat of the car, which prevents them from distracting the driver and also keeps them safe in the event of an accident. Smaller dogs should be in a carrier or pet crate, secured with a seatbelt.

The FDA is warning that people should take extreme caution when using any type of male enhancement products, as these could have a very damaging effect on sexual health. Three products which claim to contain only herbs have recently been found to have hidden prescription drugs amongst the ingredients, which could be dangerous for your wellness and wellbeing if used.

The drugs used in these three products are very similar to those that are used in drugs for erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra and Cialis. Although these drugs are commonly used, they are very dangerous to men who have heart disease, who could use the products thinking they are herbal and then suffer from devastating effects due to the hidden drugs.

The three banned products are named ‘Stiff Days’, ‘Libido Sexual Enhancer’ and ‘Rock-it Man’- names that leave you in no doubt as to their intended use. These are being marketed as alternatives to prescription drugs, and are said to be safe to use without having to consult your doctor. In actual fact, this couldn’t be further from the truth, as they are virtually the same as prescription drugs and should only be used in controlled conditions.

These products put the consumer at risk, due to the undisclosed ingredients, which is structurally similar to Viagra, a drug which is only ever intended to be available on prescription, with the help and guidance of your GP.

Men who have high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure often take medication that contains nitrates, and the undisclosed ingredients in these male penis enhancers may interact with these nitrates causing devastating effects in some patients.

The FDA urges that anyone who has experienced such negative side effects from one of these products seek medical assistance as soon as possible.

This new trend of hidden prescription drugs in supposedly natural or herbal foods is widespread, and very worrying for consumers.

Warning: Male Enhancement Products Can be Dangerous

How do you maintain your weightWeight loss supplements are what they are. They’re ways for you to try to accentuate your weight loss which is a very nice way of saying they are ways to try to cheat. I say try because they don’t work without massively unpleasant side effects. We’re not meant to shed weight like water and when we try to our bodies don’t react particularly well. Remember that evolutionarily speaking we’re not so different from our cave man ancestors, we’ve not evolved along with our life styles. Maybe one day our bodies will be able to keep up with our expectations but that day isn’t today. You need to slow down and accept your limitations. Weight loss is more than possible but it’s not going to just happen over the course of moments, you’re going to have to work at it. At the end of the day, the only things in life which are worth having are the things you’ve had to work for.

The reason I tell you to steer clear of weight loss supplements isn’t because I want your life to be harder. It’s because some are genuinely dangerous. Recent studies in the United Arab Emirates have shown that around ten of the most common supplements for weight loss have dangerous and potentially life threatening consequences when taken often. Is losing weight worth losing your life? No. Of course it isn’t.

The most effective way to lose weight is to balance diet and exercise in a way you enjoy. If you start doing something which you hate then you’re never going to keep doing it for long enough for it to have any real effect on you. If you enjoy something then you’re much more likely to stick with it and as such you’re much more likely to lose the weight you want to lose.
