Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is receiving rave reviews for her performance in her latest film Tanu Weds Manu Returns, says people’s opinions don’t make a difference to her.

Asked if people’s outlook towards her has changed ever since she charmed the audiences and critics with Queenand now Tanu Weds Manu Returns, she said, “Other people’s opinions do not matter to me, if they did matter, I wouldn’t have lasted till now.”

“If I would have got affected, I would be full of irrational doubts. I do have a strong sense of what can be achieved and what cannot.”

However, she minced no words when she spoke about the change in people’s perception after her role in Queen.

“People felt I was talented. I was surprised because I thought everyone knew from before that I was talented. With films like Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Woh Lamhe, Life in a… Metro, Tanu Weds Manu and Queen, I kept proving myself,” she said.

“I thought there was no doubt about my acting abilities. So, the reaction after Queen was a revelation to me,” she added.

Kangana, who had earlier bagged a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Fashion, said she wasn’t expecting the Best Actress National Award for Queen.

This Bollywood bottom line is a thing of beauty. The Aanand L Rai-directed Tanu Weds Manu Returns has collected the year’s first Rs 100 crores at the home box office, an incandescent spot in an otherwise gloomy 2015 which has been less about profit and more about loss.

Monday’s business took the film past the finish line. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

#TanuWedsManuReturns crosses Rs 100 cr in India. Emerges the HIGHEST GROSSER of 2015 BIGGEST HIT of 2015 [so far]. Note: Hindi films.

In a moment of pure Bollywood-like serendipity, the 100 crore day coincided with Tanu Weds Manu Returns‘ lead actor R Madhavan’s 45th birthday.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns stars Kangana Ranaut as both the female leads – the eponymous Tanu and her lookalike Datto – apart from Madhavan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Deepak Dobriyal and Swara Bhaskar.

The film had already made over Rs 100 crores worldwide last week, as have Deepika Padukone’s Piku and Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back.

There’s no “right” age to get married, says actress Kangana Ranaut, who is currently basking in the success of her latest hit Tanu Weds Manu Returns and is in no mood to “give away” her “position” in the film industry as of now.

“Marriage is hard work. I have worked hard for ten years and I don’t have time to build equations. I am in a place where I can secure my position and have a good future; I don’t want to give it away,” the National Award-winning actress said here.

“When love happens, it happens just like that. Just because you are 28 years old, it doesn’t mean you have to get married and have kids,” she said.

Kangana, for whom Tanu Weds Manu Returns has turned out to be a double bonanza after Queen, says she feels that a new journey has started for her.

“There is a time when you struggle to prove yourself worthy of what you rightfully deserve, and then comes a time when that struggle is over. Then there is struggle to explore, transcend your limit and go to the next level. I am going to stage two now,” she said.

Produced by Eros International and Colour Yellow Productions, and directed by Aanand L Rai, Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a sequel to 2011′s Tanu Weds Manu. The film also co-stars R Madhavan.
