Whether you are still a student in school, a business professional or even a stay at home parent, stress plays a huge part in all of our lives. And when not addressed, that stress can boil up and become a huge hindrance in your life. Luckily, there are also many things that you can do to relax and get away from all of those stressors. Here are some tips for living happier and healthier by relieving stress.

Work Out

Going to the gym has more benefits than just working towards the perfect six-pack. Instead, physical exercise releases endorphins that help balance your mood. If you are stressed, go to the gym and pump some weights or go for a long jog when the weather is nice outside. Working out also helps you clear your mind of what is stressing you and instead put your attention towards the exercise at hand.

Meditate

One method of exercise that you should consider is yoga. And while yoga is great for flexibility and core strength, it also helps you meditate. That said, meditation can be used more than just in the yoga studio. Instead, you can learn techniques that will help you control your thoughts and breathing, even when you are right in the middle of a stressful situation. Meditation will allow you to focus your thoughts and calm yourself down when things feel like they are about to explode.

Organize

If you feel like the reason you are stressed is because your life is completely disorganized, then you have a great starting place for making things better. It all begins with organization. Put your stress factors, whether it’s school, work or family, all into different categories. Then figure out ways to approach each situation the best that you can. Sometimes the overall idea of life can be quite stressful, but breaking everything down can become much more manageable and relieve any tension that you have.

Treat Yourself

You work hard in everything you do, so it only makes sense that you should reward yourself for your efforts. Don’t be afraid to give back and treat yourself every once in a while to relax. Lakeside Spa does massages in Calgary and they recommend that a spa package is a great way to wind down after a long day. No matter how you take a load off, treating yourself will help you relax and relieve stress.

Be Social

It may seem like you are the only person who is ever stressed out in life, but you aren’t. There are plenty of other individuals who are equally as stressed as you. Therefore, don’t be afraid to be social and talk to others about how you are feeling. Being social can often get things off your chest and talking with people can help you figure out other methods of dealing with stress.

Did you know, stress can be a big threat to your sexual wellness and wellbeing? According to new research, female sex drives may be more sensitive to stress than male sexy drives.

Researchers at the Kinsey institute surveyed people about their moods and sexual activity and then looked at how certain moods, such as feeling depressed, happy or stressed, could affect their libido. Women were less likely than men to report a spike in desire when they were not feeling happy.

This makes sense, as men tend to like to ‘blow off steam’ when they are in a bad mood, including things like going to the gym or having sex. Women, on the other hand, tend to internalise things, and let tension build up over time.

If you are a man who is wondering if your partner’s libido is being affected by stress, you can try looking out for various signs.

One such sign is doing a lot of shopping. Draining a bank account can be a great way to relieve stress (but only temporarily!) The brain gets rewarded by the feeling of buying something new and exciting, but the high then evaporates as quickly as it arrives.

If you want to find a way to help, try to replicate the thrill of shopping without actually spending so much money. Take her somewhere new and exciting but that does not involve spending a fortune such as to a museum or art gallery.

Look out, too, for tight muscles. If you touch your partner and feel that she is tensed up, it is a sure-fire sign that she is feeling stressed. A massage can be the best way to deal with this, and a relaxing massage can also lead to other physical activity (although you shouldn’t expect it to).

After a while, stress can begin to take a major toll on your body. In that case, some people resort to a regimen of painkillers or other drugs; however, there are simpler ways to accomplish stress-relief naturally. In order to keep a clear mind and prevent your body from becoming tense, you must take the necessary time out to relax. Here are five ways to help your body to relax naturally.

Take a nap

Just like young children, adults can also benefit from a daily nap. A short, 20-minute nap will help to revitalize your entire body. Once you awaken, you will feel a lot more optimistic about the rest of your day. A nap is especially important if you did not get a good night’s sleep.

Exercise

A spirited walk around the mall or a short jog around the neighborhood will instantly calm your body. Exercising causes your brain to release a hormone called serotonin, which is effective in elevating a person’s mood. Although you can exercise for as long as you like, working out for at least 30 minutes will be the most beneficial.

Invest in a hot tub

Nothing soothes the body more than a nice, relaxing dip in the hot tub. Whether you have had a long day at work or just feeling a little tense, a quick plunge into a hot tub will relieve any tightness in your body. Unlike a public sauna, a hot tub allows you to unwind in total privacy. Make sure to do your research to find your perfect spas & hot tubs.

Visit a nature park

A nature park creates a peaceful environment where you can allow your mind to escape. If you have been feeling stressed out, a nature park will grant you the opportunity to let your imagination roam free. As you listen to the serene sounds of the wilderness, your will body will begin to go into a state of complete relaxation.

Treat yourself

If you have been craving a strawberry sundae or a juicy steak, do not be afraid to cave into your desires every once in a while. Although it is always a good idea to eat healthy, making a few occasional cheat days won’t hurt and can actually be good for your health. You can also do other pleasurable activities such as going to the movies or attending a sporting event.

The truth of the matter is that no one wants to feel stressed out and worried. Although certain medications do provide some relief, natural stress relievers are far more safe and effective in the long run.
