Premature ejaculation is one of the biggest sexual problems affecting men today. It affects their wellness and wellbeing both through a lack of physical, sexual pleasure and also by denting their self-confidence and self-esteem. The good news is, there are ways that you can last longer! There is no need to battle with this in silence anymore.

One thing you can do is to attempt to train yourself to last longer through masturbation. When you masturbate, the goal shouldn’t be to get to the point of climax as quickly as possible – as is often the case – but instead to take as much time as you can to get there! Work up to taking 15 minutes to reach orgasm. You can do this by bringing yourself close to orgasm and then stopping again to cool things down. This should help you teach your body to last longer during penetrative sex.

Another way to go is called the ‘squeeze technique’. When you feel that you are getting too close, too soon, stop and squeeze right below the head of the penis, applying firm pressure with your forefinger and thumb and applying specific pressure to the urethra, which runs along the underside of the penis. This pushes blood back out of the penis and can help to decrease sexual tension, making the ejaculatory response get temporarily repressed.

If you’re trying to last longer in bed, it’s also a great idea to work out exactly how you feel when you are going to orgasm. Recognising the pattern in yourself will better allow you to control it.

There are also exercises (or sexercises we might say!) that you can do to help you tighten up the muscles of the pelvic floor. When you do your kegel exercises (by contracting and releasing the muscles that stop and start the urine flow, you will have better ejaculatory control.

It is a well-known fact that during sexual intercourse, women tend to take longer to achieve orgasm than men. It is unsurprising, then, that the top of the wish list for many women’s sexual desires is that their partner would be able to last longer in bed. Of course it’s also worth noting that this wouldn’t just be a boon for the woman involved. Lasting longer in bed is a much richer sexual experience for men.

With that in mind we have prepared a list of top tips for lasting longer in bed. It will make for a much better sexual experience for the man and it will also make it a lot more pleasurable and increase the likelihood of orgasm for the woman.

Use seduction techniques

As people’s schedules get busier it often makes sense to begin planning when you are going to have sex. This is a common strategy to ensure that you’ve got the time free to enjoy it and to make sure that you don’t stop having sex altogether just because you’re very busy. If this is something you do then it is well worth planning out ways to seduce your partner immediately prior to the event. When you know you’re going to have sex at a certain it can take away the intimacy, so make sure that you seduce and tease your partner beforehand, so that when you do get the chance to have sex, you can’t wait for it.

Kiss more

Kissing might seem to be the tamest of the areas of foreplay, but actually it can be a very important and sensual part of the love making experience.  Think back to when you were younger and the thrill of kissing your crush meant that you were happy to sit there for hours just enjoying the kiss. This needs to be brought back into your life. You can kiss in many different ways and you should try them out – this can be a great form of seduction and teasing, building up the lust within your body and getting you really excited for sex.

Enjoy undressing

Undressing and seeing more of your partner’s body is a great way to build seduction during foreplay. It doesn’t need to be an elaborate striptease with music and rhythmic dancing – indeed often it’s very sexy to see your partner take off their clothes. Slow things down and remove items of clothing very slowly, exposing skin and building up your partner’s arousal. Let them do the same for you, so that you gradually strip down. Seeing your partner naked is a big turn on, but building up the tension before and removing clothes in stages heightens that experience.

Take it in turn

We might often think that having sex means that both partners need to be constantly stimulated and that you should both feel pleasure at the same time. But a great way to prolong your sexual experience is to take it in turns to be the partner who gives or receives pleasure. When you are the giver, you must take care to do everything your partner wants and really let them enjoy themselves sexually – don’t worry, your turn is coming soon. When you are receiving, you don’t need to worry at all about stimulating your partner, you must just enjoy everything you’re getting and make the most of the sex.

Don’t be afraid to ask

If your partner has really enjoyed the sex, but you still feel like you need a little more – don’t be afraid to ask, just remember to return the favour if your partner wants it again at another time. Your partner will often be very willing to help you get off if you feel like you need a little extra.

If you’re taking care of family wellness, there’s one thing you need; other people. Obviously, you need more than just you to make a family, but research shows that connecting with others is vastly beneficial to your wellbeing. Not only does interaction raise your spirits, but it also does wonders for your health.

According to the results of prominent researcher Sheldon Cohen, PhD, from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, if you form close bonds with other people, you’ll live for longer than those who don’t foster meaningful relationships. In one of his studies, Dr Cohen analysed the autobiographies of 96 psychologists and 220 literary writers for words that indicated close relationships, such as father, mother, neighbour, sister, brother etc. The writers who used the most of these words in their stories had lived for longer than those who used these terms less often. Moreover, a 2007 study from University College London found that people who have more negative interactions in their closest relationships are more likely to develop heart disease.

So how do you strengthen your relationship wellness?

1. Accept the things you cannot change. People are different and flawed and, no matter how hard you try, you’re never going to fix the things you don’t like about someone. Love the people in your life for the people that they are, warts and all.

2. Accentuate the positive. You can choose to look at annoying habits in others as deal breakers or irritants, or you can try to see them as charming quirks. That’s just part of who they are, and you might even miss those little annoying behaviours if they were gone.

3. Show your appreciation. Even if your loved ones are “supposed” to do certain chores, make sure you say thank you – a little gratitude goes a long way.

4. Walk a mile in their shoes. Your style of handling conflict or difficult situations may be different to the other person’s. You may rather hash it all out, but your loved one may be an internal processor, and would prefer to think things through alone. Accept the difference, and try to adjust the way you interact.

You work on fitness for many reasons, be it to live longer, lose weight or just improve your overall sense of wellbeing. However, in a society obsessed with sex, surely there’s a way in which exercise can improve your sexual wellness? Studies show that 71% of men want to last longer in the bedroom (who were the 29% who didn’t?!) so here are eight exercises that will give you a boost in the bedroom.

1. Kegel exercise. This exercise is often recommended for women, but guys can really benefit as Kegel gives you more control over the muscles in your penis, which leads to better orgasms and longer sexual sessions.

2. Masturbation exercise. As if you need an excuse, masturbating can help to improve your sexual performance, as it helps you to familiarise yourself with the capabilities you have, how it feels when you’re about to orgasm, and how to hold it back so you can avoid premature ejaculation.

3. Weight Lifting. Lifting enough to feel tiredness or fatigue by the tenth rep generates testosterone, which is the primary precursor for male sex drive.

4. Yoga. Great sex isn’t just about lasting long; it’s about getting creative with new positions. Yoga increases your flexibility, as well as improving your pelvic muscles.

5. Speed Walking. According to a Harvard study, aerobic workouts lower your risk of erectile dysfunction. Walking quickly improves your blood flow and circulation, which serves to generate longer and stronger erections.

6. Swimming. On a basic level, sexual activity is an act of endurance, and long-distance sessions of swimming can help keep you going for a long time.

7. Pelvic Thrust. Not only does this help you gain control in your pelvic muscles, but pelvic thrusts help to release tension in your abdominal and thigh muscles, which can reduce your sexual problems.

8. Squats. This exercise works a number of your muscles which produces more hormones and, in turn, invariably leads to better sex drive. Plus, improving the stamina and strength in your upper legs and gluteus muscles is certainly no bad thing when it comes to improving your performance.

Most people, if questioned, would say that they want to live longer. There are all kinds of methods that people use to attempt longevity, but one that they should pay closer attention to is using vitamins, minerals and supplements.

Living for a long time has foundations in wellness and wellbeing; if you focus on keeping yourself healthy, you are likely to avoid the diseases that could shorten your life. More nutrients should be linked to more years on your life, as your body will be in the best possible condition. But are vitamins in the form of pills just as beneficial as vitamins that you can get from your diet?

As you get older, the nutrients that you need in order to keep your body healthy change, and that is when the vitamins and supplements market comes into its own. Pills can be targeted at specific age groups, be that sportsmen, teen girls or menopausal women, in order to make sure that they get the exact nutrients that they require.

Nevertheless, research continues to turn up mixed results about whether dietary supplements are beneficial, harmful to your body or are simply of no benefit or harm whatsoever.

There are some things, however, that are associated with longevity, and which could be tried if you are hoping to extend your life. Beta carotene, for example, is associated with lowering your risk of cancer, but this only works in dietary form, not when taken as a supplement. Calcium has also been shown to increase mortality, and can be taken in pill form. There are risks to taking regular calcium, however, so this should only be done so with the support of your doctor. Vitamin D also tends to work in collaboration with calcium to help keep your bones healthy and to protect you against certain cancers. Taking vitamin D supplements is widely believed to be safe.

eating meatVegetarians have something to smile about this week, as a new study shows that following a meat-free diet can cut your risk of having heart disease by up to 32 per cent. Carried out in Britain, the study draws the conclusion that eating meat can do more harm than good.

Researchers involved in the study looked at data from 44,500 voluntary participants, over a period of 11 years. From this, they found that the vegetarians in the group were significantly less likely to suffer from any form of heart trouble.

When looking at those in the trial aged 50 – 70, it was found that 6.8 percent of those who had fish or meat as a regular part of their diet ended up being hospitalised at some point, or even dying, due to heart disease. This contrasts sharply with just 4.6 per cent of the vegetarians in this same age group.

One of the lead researchers, Oxford University’s Francesca Cowe, hypothesises that this may be due to better wellbeing, such as a lower level of cholesterol in vegetarians, combined with lower blood pressure.

Heart disease is one of the biggest killers in the developed world, and is the cause of 65,000 deaths in Britain every year.

In the study, one-third of those involved followed a vegetarian diet. Out of the full 44,500 participants, 1,235 people developed heart disease, and 169 of those died from the disease. Researchers say that this new information emphasises the importance of diet and nutrition for wellness and to help prevent heart disease. The vegetarians in the group typically had lower BMIs and were less likely to have diabetes as well.

Factors such as smoking habits, exercise levels, age and alcohol consumption were all taken into consideration to isolate diet as a factor in this study.
